Nita collected used envelopes, shredded them and created new sheets of paper. The idea of recycling and a no-buy policy were important to her.
As paper is made from wood, she also incorporated found material from walks in the forest:
Nita used burnt wood to paint the textured surface of the sheets. The fire from a lighter also contributed to the material and visual transformation of the newly created paper. Tree resin, heated by the lighter, served as a structural glue.
During the production process, Nita was confronted with questions about the quantity and ratio of individual components such as water and paper shavings. But she also explored how to carefully handle the fire and the burnt pieces of wood on the fragile paper by experimenting.
The result is an installation that, similar to a fireplace in the forest, allows the resulting paper objects to enter into a dialog with the burnt wood. The smell and sounds of stepping on charred fragments expand the sensory experience of Nita's project.
