The coexistence of metal and textile is not unprecedented, we aimed to push its potential to its extreme, seeking a sustainable and environmentally friendly outcome. Our exploration encompassed various aspects such as shape, size, light, and structure.
Focusing on fabric and metal, particularly copper and aluminum, we worked with objects and photographs. Notably, we were intrigued by discarded aluminum cans, prompting us to devise a machine for creating uniform stripes and weaving them on the loom. Additionally, we acquired old, defective cables, utilizing another custom-built machine to expedite copper removal.
Materials utilized in our exploration included aluminum cans, aluminum foils, wire cords, mesh cloth, copper wire, wool yarn, polyester yarn, and a dobby loom. We also explored alternative weaving methods, such as tying warp across two rods and incorporating alternative yarn for the weft, bypassing the use of a traditional loom.
